Tilling Roots & Seeds is pleased to announce an open call until March 17, 2024, for 4 artistic scholarships:
1 grant aimed at the production of an innovative and impactful artwork.
2 research residencies, lasting 6 weeks, carried out in Italy in collaboration with Alce Nero, tutored by Kilowatt.
1 research residency in the Barcelona area, in collaboration with Ferrer Sustainability, Tectum Garden and Fundació Catalunya La Pedrera, supervised by Quo Artis.
This collaborative project, co-funded by the European Union, builds on the learnings of its first edition (Roots and Seeds XXI) and brings together the following entities: Ars Electronica (Austria), Kilowatt (Italy), University of Barcelona – Institut Botànic de Barcelona (Spain), with Quo Artis (Spain) as the coordinating organization of the project.
The project aims to highlight the relationship between the health of the planet and the evolution of our food systems, especially in the context of the climate and biodiversity crisis. We invite proposals that integrate scientific and statistical data to offer new perspectives.
We are looking for artists or collectives that delve into new narratives or rituals around food production and consumption, agroecology and other systemic approaches to agriculture, transdisciplinary collaborations between disciplines aimed at better imagining the future of food production.
The main objectives of the Tilling Roots & Seeds project include enhancing European cultural cooperation, artistic research and practice focused on addressing the crisis of plant biodiversity and promoting a sustainable food system.
