British artist Damien Hirst has made his way to the Jumex Museum in Mexico City with an exhibition that promises to captivate contemporary art enthusiasts. The show, titled “Living Forever (for a Moment)”, will be open to the public from March 23 to August 25, 2024.
Damien Hirst’s Work
Damien Hirst is a creator who defies conventions and has stood out for his bold and provocative approach. His work spans a variety of mediums, from paintings and sculptures to installations and conceptual pieces. In this retrospective exhibition, visitors will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in his unique artistic world.

Notable Works
The exhibition comprises 57 works, including:
- “The Virgin Mother”: An impressive monumental sculpture standing 10 meters tall, welcoming visitors at the museum entrance.
- “For The Love of God”: A platinum-cast skull covered with 8,600 diamonds and human teeth, valued at over 100 million dollars.

Controversy and Context
The exhibition opens amidst controversy. Recently, The Guardian reported that three taxidermy animal sculptures signed by Damien Hirst and displayed in different galleries are presented as works dating back to 1990. However, the newspaper revealed that these works were actually created by Hirst’s employees in 2017. Despite this controversy, the Jumex Museum insists that the referenced works are not part of the current exhibition.
Return to Mexico
This is not the first time Damien Hirst has showcased his work in Mexico. The initial exhibition took place at the gallery of his friend Hilario Galguera. However, this retrospective at the Jumex Museum provides a unique opportunity to delve deep into his artistic trajectory.
In summary, “Living Forever (for a Moment)” invites us to explore Damien Hirst’s poetic vision of life, mortality, and eternity through his impactful and thought-provoking artworks .
