All flowers have their own language. Peony expresses abundance, wealth, good luck and prosperity. They symbolize personal actions that take risks and challenges to obtain great rewards. The meaning of this flower is the natural representation of beauty, ephemeral and fragile; in fact its life span as a cut flower is significantly shorter than other flowers used to make bouquets. They are highly valued for the medicinal properties of its roots, it is believed that inside them there are active ingredients that help to lower fever and achieve a significant improvement in blood flow. The name peony comes from Peon, the physician of the Greek Gods, quoted by the writer Homer in his two great literary works.
2. BOOKS
Many emotions come into play when we are in front of a book. Books contain news, accurate information, news of topics of interest. Stories of travels, adventures, explorations that thanks to books we can share with others and transmit the knowledge of faraway and incredible places that may be true or have never happened.
3. GREEN SHIP
The ship is recycled when it has been in service, with all its voyages. Shipbreaking yards or recycling facilities receive the ship and dismantle it section by section, separating the steel, to be recycled, from other elements that are also recycled or scrapped. This work includes multiple tasks, such as dismantling machinery and equipment, emptying tanks and reservoirs of fuel, lubricants and other liquids, and cutting steel plates into sizes that can be transported.
We see with the security provided by the anchor, a person painting the ship, maintaining its splendor to set sail to another destination, crossing seas and oceans, defying the wind, the weather, the great waves that will caress its prow to its stern.
As a mass of weight that holds the ship, the anchor is considered a universal symbol of firmness, solidity, tranquility and fidelity. In the midst of the mobility of the sea (emotions) and the elements, it is what fixes, binds, immobilizes or secures. What they never imagined was that they would dock in the port of Eilat, near the Valley of Timna where everyone was looking for King Solomon’s mines.
About Marta Carceller:
The artist was born in Barcelona in 1977 and is a mother of 4 children. At the moment, the family lives in Barcelona, the city that has seen her grow up and where the small studio where she works is.
Marta’s academic training has revolved around music and she graduated in psychology, which has helped her to internalize, explore and identify her own emotions, in order to capture them on a canvas.
She is a self-taught painter; As a young girl, began to be interested in this form of art, but couldn’t dedicate intensely because of her other occupations.
Little by little she started stealing time from other things and opted for what filled her the most.
As a result of the tragic death of her husband and father of her 4 children, the artist began to focus even more on this exciting world and realized that what he had encouraged her to do was what fulfilled her and what she needed; to stop the world and learn from herself, from her own mistakes and to take the time to explore her own self.
Marta’s full dedication began as a result of the confinement due to the Covid pandemic; The incident gave her motivation and meaning, confinement gave her the time, and her children and Alex, her life partner, gave her encouragement to continue on this adventure.
The subjects of Marta’s works are varied, from landscapes to portraits. She tries to reproduce everything that makes her feel, that makes her vibrate in a special way and makes her feel alive. She is passionate about making the everyday beautiful.
The art of painting allows her to experiment with different materials and textures, but basically she uses acrylic paint and canvas as a support.
She knows how she will start a work, but she doesn’t know how it is going to finish. For her, the act of creating has a clear starting point, but as she progresses and delves deeper into it, it becomes a truly exciting and extremely enriching adventure. Learning and discovery is constant.
For her, it’s a pleasure to be able to transmit to her work viewer a small portion of what she feels when painting surrounds her and how this intimate act of creating feels like.
