ARTESANTANDER International Contemporary Art Fair celebrates its 30th edition this year 2022, which will be open to the general public from July 16 to 20.
The “Solo Projects” format developed with great success in the last editions bets on a solo project of an artist and represents the differentiating profile of the fair, focused on visualizing the artistic proposals selected and channeled through the national and international galleries that represent the artists.
The proposal presented this year by the prestigious Alvaro Alcazar Gallery in Madrid is a series of 12 works made by artist Rebeca Plana over the last 12 months.
Madrid gallery owner Álvaro Alcázar, who has been representing Rebeca Plana for several years now, comments: “the origin of this project dates back to the last edition of the Fair, in July 2021, during a visit of the artist to our stand. There it was agreed that she would be the gallery’s bet for the next edition and the project we have entitled “A year since Santander” was defined. Rebeca Plana would make 12 works, one each month to present them in July 2022.”

“The series consists of twelve works made in mixed media on paper that respond to the marked style of the artist. Works where the protagonists, the color and the stroke arranged on smooth backgrounds reveal numerous emotional perceptions. They are works of a marked abstract character, sometimes calligraphic, which combine elements of structured composition with a wild and improvisational atmosphere, taking them towards the historical patriarchy of abstract expressionism,” concludes the gallery owner.
ARTESANTADER is located in the Salón Bahía, located in the Palacio de Exposiciones y Congresos of Santander.
