The ARCO Foundation, in its 29th edition, has awarded the “A” Collecting Prizes, highlighting the work of five distinguished collectors and institutions that promote contemporary art.
Patricia Phelps de Cisneros receives the “A” Honorary Prize for her valuable support of the arts. Founder of the Patricia Phelps de Cisneros Collection, she has been recognized for her efforts in preserving and promoting Latin American and Caribbean art, supporting both established and emerging artists.
Fundació Sorigué receives the “A” Corporate Collection Prize. With an impressive collection of over 450 works, its focus is on contemporary art and its contribution to social reflection through innovative spaces such as the PLANTA project.
Juan Carlos Maldonado Collection is awarded the “A” International Collecting Prize. Maldonado has promoted geometric abstraction art with a collection that spans from Latin American to European artists, solidifying a legacy of spreading and studying this movement.
Fernando Arriola and Yolanda Zugaza receive the “A” Collecting Prize for Spain for their Alkar Contemporary Collection, a leading reference in Spanish contemporary art. With over 450 works, it supports both established and emerging artists, maintaining a strong connection with the Basque art scene.
Álex Ruas Wege is honored with the “A” Young International Collection Prize. His collection, which reflects his passion for architecture and art, includes works by both Brazilian and international artists, creating a dialogue between cultures and an innovative approach that enriches his creative environment.
These prizes, which will be presented on March 4th at the Círculo de Bellas Artes in Madrid, underscore the importance of collecting and supporting contemporary art globally. They also aim to raise funds to strengthen the ARCO Foundation’s collection, housed at the CA2M Museum Dos de Mayo Art Center of the Community of Madrid.
