The sixth edition of the 7 Seconds International Film Festival (7SIFF) is officially underway, and submissions are now open for all creators ready to push the boundaries of cinema. This international festival is centered around films that are exactly 7 seconds long, offering a unique platform to showcase your talent and creativity. The regular submission deadline is August 3, 2025.
Who’s behind this brilliant initiative?
7SIFF was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, during the 2019 pandemic, when a group of friends decided to experiment with a new cinematic format: seven-second films. What began as a playful activity soon evolved into an international festival. In its fifth edition in 2024, the festival received over 850 submissions from filmmakers in more than 50 countries, highlighting the growing popularity and global impact of the concept.
The 7SIFF is an international film festival held from October 1 to 9, celebrating the best 7-second films from around the world. The works are screened in cinemas across Buenos Aires and on digital platforms, and they are awarded by both an international jury and the public. It’s a chance for filmmakers to showcase their creativity in a bold and challenging format.
Prepare your film:
The total runtime must include 7 seconds of film, plus 2 seconds for the title and 4 seconds for credits, for a total of 13 seconds.
Create an account, upload your film, and provide the required information (synopsis, poster, biography, photo, and technical team details).
Be sure to select the correct category for your film, such as “Argentinian University Film” or “International University Film.”
